Hi, I'm Cody,
the director and owner of Mac Wedding Films.
The first and most important thing I want to convey is that our films are genuine, personal, and ultimately tailored to our clients as individuals. You won't find two films alike on this website because it's essential to me and everyone here that your wedding film holds meaning for you forever. Our (very, very rad) clients trust us with something incredibly personal, and it's my mission to know them well, capture them authentically, and tell their stories in a way that resonates deeply and genuinely. You might come across a film here that doesn't resonate with you, and that's the point. Each couple's film is their own, and it would be a waste to tell a story any other way.
When I started playing with cameras in 2014, I had no idea that it would be the conduit to the life of a wedding filmmaker. I was an accountant in a past life, and with a Christmas bonus and an impulse purchase at Best Buy, I changed the trajectory of my life and career forever. I carried over a very accounting-influenced methodology of "Control the controllable, and the rest is for rolling with." Our clients come to appreciate this on their wedding day.
Outside of weddings,
I run a commercial production company called Portland Content Creation. I work on impossibly cool projects, and it keeps me sharp in the offseason. I spend my personal time diving hands-first into my garden, various contraptions, old cars, and cooking. My partner and I live in a 100-year-old home that I adore, and while it may be needy at times, it provides me with the promise of a life full of projects, which is perfect for my busy hands.
Unsurprisingly, I've acquired a nasty photography bug and take film photos on a happy, old Olympus OM1n, another one of my lovably cranky contraptions. Some of my images have been published in a photo book by a good friend of mine called Going the Distance. The short book consists of anecdotes and film photography from a road trip through the American southwest; in which my bio reads, "Cody's film photography affliction is a refreshingly productive result of his obsession with contraptions and a general tendency to do things the slow way."
I love my job.
It will be the thing I do best in this life, second only to loving my partner and best friend, Brooke. Wedding filmmaking is like my ikigai, a thing that makes me whole, and I recognize that my camera is just the tool I use. If I had been given a different skill, I still would have found my way here, telling your stories.
